FAQs

What You Should Know About Task Chairs.

We answer the most common questions about task chairs: adjustments, materials and intensive use.

How do you adjust a task chair correctly? +

Start with the height: your thighs should be parallel to the floor and your feet firmly planted. Then adjust the seat depth so there are about two or three fingers between the edge of the seat and the back of your knee; place the lumbar support in the curve of your lower back; set the armrests at desk height; and finally, adjust the backrest tension to your weight.

Mesh backrest or fully upholstered chair for daily use? +

A mesh backrest lets air circulate and is the most common choice for full-time workstations; models such as Varotti, Malta, Monza and San Remo use it, almost always with a seat upholstered in PU foam. A chair fully upholstered in fabric, such as Rimini, gives a more uniform, warmer look. Both work for full workdays; the difference lies in ventilation and style.

What is the seat slider for? +

The slider moves the seat forward or backward to adjust its depth to the length of your legs. It is especially useful when the same chair is used by people of different heights, as in shared or shift-based workstations. Models such as Capri, Malta and Varotti include it.

What level of ergonomics do I need in a task chair? +

On our ergonomics scale from 1 to 5, Monza, Rimini and Ventto rate 3, suitable for moderate workdays; San Pietro, San Remo and Fiore rate 4; and Varotti, Malta and Capri rate 5. For eight-hour workstations in front of a screen, choose level 4 or 5, which add adjustable lumbar support and synchro mechanisms.

Do you have task chairs for checkouts or tall counters? +

Yes. Rimini comes in a task version and a cashier version, with an adjustable chrome footrest ring for raised workstations such as checkouts, counters or laboratories. That way, the whole team can have the same chair even when working at different heights.
