We answer the most common questions about credenzas: sizes, uses and finishes.
It is a low, wide piece of furniture placed behind or beside the desk. It combines storage —doors, drawers or filing— with a support surface for the printer, everyday documents or decorative objects, freeing up the desktop.
As a reference, a credenza is usually the same height as the desk (around 75 cm / 30 in) so it works as an extension of the work surface. Its length depends on the space behind the desk: leave at least 90 cm (3 ft) between desk and credenza so the chair can turn and people can walk by. Share your office dimensions and we will recommend the right size.
Doors if you store supplies or equipment that should stay out of sight; drawers or a filing drawer for frequently used documents, which can include a lock; and open niches to display books or decorative pieces. Many offices combine all three in a single credenza.
